inspiration point: no exit
FEATURING PAINTINGS BY W. DAVID WARD & ANJA KARISIK
SUMMER 2019

Two independent artists explore the nature of inspiration; that informing spirit which moves – and very often possesses – those it calls to share a vision of the world.

The Genius Loci is experienced as an objective reality, and lends itself to the depiction of place. Landscape, the perennial theme of Regional painters, reflects the fundamental values of the Romantic tradition:  Beauty, Nature and Truth.

Inspiration point, however, is not so much a place, where snap shots may be taken and pretty pictures created. It is a moment in time – which, paradoxically, feels entirely removed from time. It is a decisive moment, an imperative, an animating force which may not be resisted and from which there is no escape. The call must be heeded and the inspiration expressed.

This collection of paintings is a celebration of life's journey; inspired by one moment on one particular path, from which – until the spirit is exorcised – there is no exit.
